Head of Business Development - Construction Clients

  • Lead Genie AI’s growth within the construction sector by building relationships with contractors, developers, and infrastructure firms

  • You will learn how AI is transforming complex, document-heavy industries like construction

  • You’ll be the face of Genie AI for construction clients, introducing them to a platform that reduces legal costs, accelerates project timelines, and mitigates risks

We’ve raised $17.8 million in Series A funding led by Google Ventures and joined by Khosla Ventures. They believe in our vision that the law should be accessible to everyone, and this is where your skills will make this vision real for one of the world’s most document-intensive industries.

This is what you’ll be doing

As a Head of Business Development - Construction Clients at Genie AI you’ll be joining us in a dynamic stage of our growth. Selling AI into construction is both challenging and rewarding – expect to use your creativity and commercial instincts to open doors.

  • Sector penetration: Own Genie’s growth strategy in construction, identifying high-value clients across contractors, developers, and engineering firms
  • Client acquisition: Prospect, pitch, and close deals with mid-market and enterprise clients
  • Strategic partnerships: Develop relationships with industry associations, procurement consortia, and construction law specialists
  • Tailored value proposition: Work with Product and Marketing to craft sector-specific messaging and case studies
  • Revenue growth: Build a scalable pipeline and consistently exceed sales targets
  • Collaboration: Partner with Customer Success to ensure clients achieve lasting value and expand accounts over time

Over your first 90 days you can expect us to help point you in the right direction to set you up for success. During the interview process we can talk you through a high level overview of your 90 day plan.

By the end of your first six months we expect you to be:
  • Secure flagship construction clients that validate Genie’s fit in the sector
  • Deliver a clear, repeatable playbook for selling into construction
  • Build a strong pipeline of opportunities across the sector.
We’ll continually develop and measure success on the below criteria:
  • Revenue generated from construction clients
  • Strength and scalability of your pipeline
  • Strategic relationships established with key industry players.

We are a start up in an exceptionally dynamic stage of our growth. We are a customer and employee led organisation. What this means is that we adapt to our customers' needs, and the problems we’re solving today could be very different in six months, or even by the end of this recruitment process. We also listen to our team as we empower you to have full autonomy of your role - you're the expert. You should expect to work with us on how your role develops, grows and changes throughout your time at Genie.

It can be tough here because

  • Construction is a traditional sector with complex procurement cycles
  • We’re still building playbooks – you’ll create much of the path yourself
  • Priorities shift quickly as we adapt to client needs.

The skills you need to succeed in this role

  • Proven success in B2B sales or business development, ideally in SaaS
  • Experience working with or selling into the construction industry
  • Strong network of senior decision-makers in contractors, developers, or infrastructure
  • Exceptional relationship-building and negotiation skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment.
