Beyond Blood Diagnostics is a fast growing award winning deep-tech start-up focused on

leveraging microfluidic technology in combination with semiconductors to monitor vital blood

biomarkers critical for cancer patients. T oday cancer patients have no visibility on the

effectiveness of chemotherapy and with our device they can monitor at home as often as they

like the effectiveness of chemotherapy. This position will play a crucial role in bringing our

prototype into patient’s homes and eliminating completely 2 million cancellations every year for

the NHS. The company has already secured over £2m in grant funding over multiple grants

across different innovation projects.

The Role

• We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to lead the SW efforts of the company.

• You will work both in green-field research topics as well as production SW, supporting the release of our first pilots and products.

• Full-time permanent position based in central London. Must be able to come to offices at least 2 days per week or more as needed.

Key responsibilities

Design, develop and test full architecture of software, which includes:

• Application with GUI developed in Python, running on Raspberry Pi.
• Peripheral control.
• Complex data processing.
• Data storage and traceability.
• Gain an understanding of the underlying physical parameters that affect the data, to create a robust modular and future-proof design.

Preferred skills and experience

We are looking for as many of the following skills as possible but we are looking to give the

opportunity to learn any of these skills for talented people who are highly motivated by the

challenge of what we are trying to achieve.

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering.
• Masters preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience in developing Python projects. Experience with similar object-oriented languages will be considered.
• Proficiency in Python or other relevant programming language.
• Experience in Linux systems.
• Experience in data processing. Filtering, data analysis, etc.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a small, interdisciplinary team environment
• Experience with serial communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, etc.
• Some Familiarity working within product regulation (e.g. ISO 13485).
• A high level of ambition to succeed in a fast paced and intellectually challenging environment.
• Results oriented with ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent technical, communication and interpersonal skills.

• Work with an interdisciplinary team of engineers to design, develop and test medical device research prototypes and products.
