Location
We are based in Hoxton, London and operate a “office-first” hybrid model
- We have 3 days in the office per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)

About the Role
Reporting directly to Jonathan (CTO & Co-founder), you will work closely with the founding team to drive the technical execution of our platform. This is a key strategic hire for the next phase of our growth, and you will play a critical role in shaping the technology, defining what to build, and ensuring we deliver exceptional value to our customers and users.
As our first Engineering Lead hire, this role offers significant ownership and impact. You will have the opportunity to scale our technology, influence the company’s trajectory, and establish the foundation for a high-performing engineering function and culture as we expand
What will you be doing?
As Engineering Lead, you will drive technical direction and managing the engineering team while collaborating closely with product, design, and other teams to deliver impactful solutions.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Defining Technical Strategy: Partner with the CTO to establish the long-term technical vision and strategy for our platform.
- Building and Scaling the Platform: Lead the end-to-end technical execution of features, improvements, and systems that provide exceptional value to our customers.
- Architectural Leadership: Understand the Borderless platform as a whole, making key architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing engineering team, mentoring and supporting team members to achieve their potential.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product and design teams to translate business needs into technical requirements and seamless implementations.
- Driving Quality: Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment to ensure the robustness and maintainability of the platform.
- Iterative Improvement: Gather feedback from users and internal teams to continuously refine and improve our systems and processes.
- Establishing Engineering Excellence: Define and implement processes, tools, and workflows to enable the team to deliver high-quality code and ship value quickly.
You should apply if:
- Leadership: You have previously led teams of 4+ fostering a collaborative environment and achieving team goals through effective leadership.
- Strong Technical Skills: Demonstrate a strong understanding of architectural principles by solving technical challenges both individually and collaboratively as part of a team
- Stakeholder Management: Effectively manage relationships across all levels, including reporting to founders or senior leadership, ensuring alignment and successful outcomes.
- System Build Impact: Demonstrate experience in developing systems and features that significantly impacted the business.
- Delivery: Delivering significant impact both as an individual contributor and as part of a team, with clear business results from notable features or components.
