Note, you must have the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately FLOWBIO currently does not provide visa sponsorship.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical / embedded systems engineer covering the stack of hardware and firmware design for our wearable products. Initially, the position will be part time at 0.6 FTE but we expect you to move to Full-Time in 2027. The position is in-person initially, and remote working is possible at the full-time stage. The position is very hands-on and an independent learning and problem solving attitude is essential to be successful.

You will join our engineering, research and development team under the guidance of Dr. Roeland Mingels and Mr. Adam Halliwell. You will be responsible for taking the PCB and firmware in our products to the next level. Your role will include restructuring and improving the existing hardware firmware as well as expanding its capabilities. Inter-continental travel will be required from time to time.

Key areas of focus include Bluetooth connectivity, analogue front end design, data streaming, power management, UX and haptic feedback implementation, integration and communication with other wearable technologies, and applied machine learning. In addition, you will work on implementing QA/QC hardware and firmware to support our manufacturing and testing processes.

You should possess strong C/C++ skills in an embedded context and have experience with LE-BLE communication. Experience with the nordic chip series is of high preference as well as evidence of analogue and digital PCB design. Backgrounds in data streaming and power management are required. Experience with wearable integrations is a plus, as is hands-on development experience with Raspberry Pi modules or similar prototyping boards.

You will collaborate closely with teams across Engineering, R&D and Software, and will have the opportunity to help shape and future-proof the hardware and firmware across our products and production facilities.

FLOWBIO is on a mission to unlock the next generation of human performance data; reinventing the data acquisition form-factor from lab-based, expensive, and costly, equipment, to small, consumer hardware products. Our product, the FLOWBIO Sensor, is already in the hands of athletes, giving them never-before-access to performance data. Our partners include Europe’s leading sports institutes, pro-cycling Teams, and a number of famous athletes.
