About Limbic
Limbic is a London‑based clinical AI start‑up on a mission to make high‑quality mental healthcare accessible to everyone, everywhere. The way we do that is by deploying AI responsibly, using it to augment clinical care and reduce barriers to accessing therapy at scale.
Limbic is already used in over 50% of Talking Therapies in the NHS, and in some of the biggest healthcare providers in the US, which makes us the largest ever deployment of AI for direct patient care. Limbic is deemed safe and effective after successfully gaining UKCA Class IIa certification, the only AI mental health chatbot in the world to do so.
Our products are proven to significantly improve outcomes in NHS and international health settings: increasing recovery rates, cutting dropouts, and enabling round‑the‑clock, AI‑driven intake and support. We are now looking for a mission-driven, experienced psychiatrist to help us further accelerate our vision to build the future of mental healthcare.
The role
We’re seeking a full time or part time (minimum 3 days per week) Medical Director to support the rapid expansion of our US-based SaaS operations. In this role, you will play a central part in the development, approval, and ongoing review of clinical policies and procedures. You will hold responsibility for our US patient safety plan, including care escalation pathways and the management of adverse events. You will also monitor patient outcomes and guide corrective action plans to strengthen clinical quality and compliance. In addition, you will ensure adherence to all applicable federal and state regulations, including licensure requirements, scope-of-practice standards, and HIPAA privacy and security obligations.
This is a highly valued, strategic position in the company. You will work directly under our Head of Clinical, and will work alongside our CEO, CTO, and leadership team on company-critical projects.
Who we need
Essential requirements
Please be aware that the below are mandatory requirements. We will only be progressing applications that demonstrate meeting all of them.
You are a board-certified psychiatrist with at least 10 years experience working in psychiatry.
You are licensed to provide behavioural healthcare, and are enrolled with Medicare part B.
You have experience as either a Medical Director, or in a strategic leadership position at a behavioural healthcare organisation.
You have experience creating policies within healthcare, and monitoring safety and outcomes over time.
You have a strong awareness of what AI is, and how it can be used effectively in healthcare.
You believe in the value AI can have in supporting patients and clinicians within the US behavioural healthcare system.
You are confident in your ability to speak in front of groups, deliver presentations, and back up your arguments.
You have a strong attention to detail and can create policies which are both thorough and understandable to a range of stakeholders.
You are able to multi-task and switch focus between projects, whilst working to tight deadlines
Non-essential requirements
Applications without the following will still be considered, however having them is a bonus.
You have experience working within health-tech/AI
You are confident using Google Workspace
