About the Role
The IT & Security Manager will have end-to-end ownership of Magdrive’s IT and cybersecurity function, ensuring robust, secure, and reliable systems that support day-to-day operations and long‑term growth.
This is a hands-on role, responsible for internal IT infrastructure, cybersecurity compliance, hardware and asset management, and coordination with external security and IT specialists. The role is the primary internal authority for all IT and information security matters.
This role is on-site, with the ability to work from home 1-2 days a week.

What you’ll be doing

  • Microsoft 365 & Collaboration Systems, Atlassian tools – e.g. Jira, Confluence
  • Own the configuration, management, and optimisation of Microsoft 365, with a strong focus on Microsoft Teams
  • Lead organisation-wide onboarding, access management, permissions, and licensing
  • Define and maintain Teams structure, governance, and usage standards
  • Act as escalation point for complex Teams, M365 and Atlassian issues
IT Operations & Service Delivery
  • Own day-to-day IT operations across office, lab, and remote environments
  • Provide hands-on technical support and structured escalation for IT incidents
  • Ensure reliability of endpoints, connectivity, and cloud services
  • Maintain clear documentation of systems, processes, and configurations
Cybersecurity & Information Security
  • Lead internal readiness and support delivery towards improving company cyber security certification, identifying and working with external consultants to achieve this aim
  • Implement and maintain security controls, access policies, and monitoring
  • Coordinate risk assessments, incident response, and security improvement plans
  • Define and promote strong security culture and best practice across the organisation
  • Responsible for organisational data governance, including data classification, storage locations, access controls, and data retention and disposal policies
External Consultants & Suppliers
  • Audit, manage and procure relationships with external IT and cybersecurity consultants
  • Oversee security audits, remediation programs and improvement initiatives
  • Ensure third‑party providers meet Magdrive’s security, compliance, and performance expectations
IT Infrastructure & Projects
  • Lead internal IT and security projects including upgrades, migrations, and system improvements
  • Support IT infrastructure requirements for new facilities, labs, and organisational expansion
  • Ensure infrastructure remains secure, scalable, and appropriate for regulated engineering activity
  • Work with engineering teams to deliver mission-critical IT systems including space hardware test systems and mission support
  • Support R&D teams with IT and data systems to accelerate and enable quality engineering.
Hardware, Assets & Device Lifecycle
  • Own IT hardware procurement and standards (laptops, peripherals, networking equipment)
  • Maintain accurate IT asset registers, including ownership, lifecycle, and disposal
  • Manage device configuration, deployment, and onboarding for new starters
  • Ensure secure offboarding and recovery of equipment for leavers
Governance & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and maintain IT and information security policies and procedures
  • Identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities across IT and security
  • Advise senior leadership on IT risk, security posture, and investment priorities
What we're looking for
Essential:
  • Proven experience in an IT Manager, IT & Security Manager, or senior IT role
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams administration
  • Practical experience delivering Cyber Essentials Plus
  • Experience engaging and managing external cybersecurity or IT consultants
  • Solid understanding of endpoint security, access control, and cloud-based environments
  • Experience managing IT hardware procurement and asset registers
  • Comfortable operating as a single owner in a growing organisation
Desirable:
  • Experience supporting or implementing Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001 or any other relevant cyber security certifications
  • Experience supporting Atlassian products, specifically Jira and Confluence
  • Experience in aerospace, defence, engineering, or other regulated sectors
  • Exposure to export control, secure R&D environments, or government‑funded programs
  • Experience scaling IT and security functions in a fast‑growing company
  • Experience with setting up non-IT infrastructure and hardware e.g. AV Conferencing infrastructure
