Job Title: Senior Hardware Reliability Engineer
Job Location: Santa Clara, CA
Job Summary:
Exo is seeking a highly talented, driven and curious Engineer to be hands on with design for reliability, reliability test, failure analysis, and reporting of findings with the new age of ultrasound at Exo.
Job Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Work cross functionally with multiple engineering teams from concept until the end of the product life cycle (field returns).
- Plan, Lead, document FMEA (failure modes and effect analysis) and actively drive design improvements.
- Understand how customers will use the product and translate that into reliability tests.
- Develop new reliability specifications and test procedures.
- Design accelerated tests and derive new acceleration models.
- Implement and conduct detailed reliability test plans on product hardware.
- Compile test and failure data and report findings to drive pogram and product decisions.
- Research new materials and technologies to underatand new and unique physics of failures.
- Run and apply DoEs (design of experiments).
- Translate field data into design and test improvements.
- Manage the reliability test lab which includes maintaining the function and calibration of the test equipment.
- Work with vendors to conduct reliability tests and bring up rel capabilities at the vendros and 3rd party labs.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate has a "can do" attitude with a strong background in reliability engineering.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in hardware reliablilty testing including mechanical stress (HAST, HALT, etc.), shock/drop/vibration, environmental (TCT, THCT), wear, Taber abrasion, and chemical exposure.
- Experience with consumer electronics and/or medical device reliability.
- Team player with a desire to work together to build individual success through team success.
- In depth understanding of failure Analysis analytical techniques (Optical Microscopy, X-Ray, SEM/EDS, etc.)
- Extraordinary problem solving abilities
- Excellent communications, reporting and interpersonal skills. Must be able to take complex data and make it simple to communicate the correct message with cross-functional teams and management with varying backgrounds (not always familiar with reliability).
- Strong attention to detail and self driven to succeed.
- Efficient in time management with ability to multitask.
- Familiar with regulations surrounding product reliability for medical devices and/or consumer electronics.
- Experience with silicon product level reliability, and MEMS/semiconductor packaging.
- Proficient in statistical software and tools such as Python, Matlab, Reliasoft, R, JMP, Minitab or equivalent.
- Familiar with workplace software including Jira, Confluence, and Slack.
- BS in ME, EE, Materials Science, or related field required.
- MS or PhD in ME, EE, Materials Science, or related field preferred or extensive experience in reliability.
Other Requirements:
- Must be willing to work onsite, in Santa Clara, CA.
- Possible travel to Asia (once – twice per year).
