About Us

We're a rapidly growing energy technology startup building a platform that helps businesses monitor and understand their solar energy assets.

Every day, our platform ingests millions of energy readings from thousands of devices, transforming raw telemetry into insights that customers rely on to monitor performance, understand revenue, and make operational decisions.

As our platform and customer base continue to grow, we're looking for a Software Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems and investigating complex production systems.

The Role

This is a software engineering role focused on production investigations, debugging, data analysis, and platform reliability.

You won't be working in traditional customer support or following predefined troubleshooting scripts.

Instead, you'll investigate complex technical problems that require you to understand how different parts of a software platform work together.

One day you might be analysing PostgreSQL queries to understand why a customer's revenue doesn't match their exported data. The next, you could be debugging a GraphQL API, investigating missing data from a third-party integration, analysing production logs, or working with engineers to identify the root cause of a production issue.

We're looking for someone who thinks like an engineer:

  • You enjoy debugging and understanding how systems work.
  • You ask good questions and form hypotheses based on evidence.
  • You don't stop at fixing symptoms — you want to understand the root cause.

This role sits at the intersection of Software Engineering, Data, Product, and Customer Success, with a strong focus on solving technically challenging problems in production.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Investigate and diagnose complex production issues across our platform.
  • Use SQL, application code, logs, APIs, and telemetry to identify root causes.
  • Investigate data discrepancies across dashboards, reports, exports, and integrations.
  • Work closely with Engineering to reproduce issues and develop long-term solutions.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Improve tooling, documentation, and processes to prevent recurring issues.

What We're Looking For

Strong Software Engineering Fundamentals

We're looking for someone with a genuine software engineering background who is comfortable working with real production systems.

You should be comfortable with:

  • Debugging complex software systems.
  • Reading and understanding application code.
  • Writing SQL queries.
  • Investigating production issues.
  • Understanding APIs and backend applications.
  • Analysing logs and system behaviour.
  • Working with incomplete information and forming evidence-based hypotheses.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or another backend programming language.
  • Strong SQL skills, ideally PostgreSQL.
  • Experience debugging backend applications or production systems.
  • Ability to read and understand existing application code.
  • Understanding of APIs and backend systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Experience with GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with AWS.
  • Experience with observability tools such as CloudWatch, Sentry, Datadog, or Grafana.
  • Experience investigating data pipelines or large datasets.

English Communication

Our team works internationally, and you'll regularly communicate technical findings in English.

Strong written and spoken English is required for this role.

You should be comfortable explaining technical investigations, writing clear findings, and collaborating with international colleagues in English.

How You Work

  • You think systematically and investigate problems methodically.
  • You enjoy debugging and solving problems that don't have obvious answers.
  • You ask why, not just what happened.
  • You're comfortable digging through code, SQL, logs, and data.
  • You form hypotheses and validate them with evidence.
  • You communicate your findings clearly.
  • You can work independently and structure complex investigations.
  • You care about understanding the root cause, not just applying temporary fixes.

Why Join Us

  • Work as a Software Engineer on real production systems processing millions of energy readings.
  • Investigate technically challenging problems involving software, databases, APIs, and large-scale data.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product, Data, and Customer Success.
  • Contribute directly to improving platform reliability and correctness.
  • Help shape how we investigate and solve production problems as the company grows.
  • Work on meaningful problems with direct impact on customers and the renewable energy industry.
  • Enjoy 21 working days of paid time off per year.
  • Take one additional Mental Health Day off per quarter.
