Working in the Satcoms Systems Team

The satcoms systems team is responsible for modelling, simulating, and continuously optimising the performance of Open Cosmos’ satellite communication infrastructure. This includes the space segment, inter-satellite links, terminals, and ground connectivity, ensuring our end-to-end systems deliver reliable, efficient, and scalable service under dynamic conditions.

We work with cutting-edge technologies such as digital twins, autonomous networks, and large-scale constellation models. The team plays a key role in design validation, mission planning, and performance-driven engineering decision-making.

What will you be doing?

As Satcoms Systems Team Lead, you will drive the product strategy for Open Cosmos' satellite communications offering, overseeing roadmaps for platforms, payloads, terminals, and connectivity services. Leading a multidisciplinary team, you’ll work across engineering, regulatory, commercial, and operations functions to ensure system coherence and smooth transitions from design to operations.

Your role involves turning user needs into clear system requirements, prioritising impactful features, and guiding product evolution to match customer demands and market shifts. You’ll also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define use cases, guide adaptations, and ensure value delivery—playing a key role in positioning Open Cosmos as a leader in satellite communications.

What you need to be successful

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Proven track record leading product development or strategy in the satellite communications, aerospace, or telecoms industry.
  • Strong understanding of Satcom markets (LEO/MEO/GEO), user needs, and technology enablers (ISLs, RF/Optical links, 5G NTN, etc.).
  • Hands on knowledge of managing product portfolios across both hardware and software systems (e.g., satellite platforms, terminals, connectivity services).
  • Ability to translate complex technical architectures into customer-facing value propositions and scalable service offerings.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align internal and external teams (engineering, sales, regulatory, partners).
  • Strong business acumen: able to build business cases, manage product P/L and drive commercial outcomes.
