Integration Test Engineer
Aim high, go beyond!
At Open Cosmos we are solving the world’s biggest challenges from space, providing businesses, governments and researchers access to more readily available information than ever before - ready for the challenge? Then read on…
The CTO division is where Open Cosmos technology comes to life. Covering engineering, product development, and technical innovation, the team designs, builds, and operates the satellites, systems, and platforms that make our missions possible. It’s a highly collaborative environment where ideas become real hardware, software, and data solutions that deliver impact from space.
Working across the full mission lifecycle, the Mission Operations team is responsible for safely operating our satellites once they are in orbit.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Integration Test Engineer you’ll play a key role in making sure our spacecraft are ready for flight — not just in theory, but in conditions that genuinely reflect how they’ll operate in orbit.
Day to day, you’ll be defining, executing and reporting on spacecraft-level integration and functional test campaigns, working with fully integrated satellites that bring together hardware, firmware, flight software and ground systems. Your focus will be on validating real end-to-end behaviour: from commanding and telemetry through to recovery scenarios, using mission control systems, operational procedures and automated test frameworks.
You’ll work closely with Mission Operations and AIT teams to ensure production test campaigns mirror in-orbit commissioning and operational workflows, helping to bridge the gap between engineering, manufacturing and operations. When tests don’t go to plan, you’ll investigate anomalies, contribute to root-cause analysis, and support recovery strategies that strengthen system reliability.
As we scale, you’ll help mature our testing processes — developing and deploying automation, analysing test data trends, improving repeatability, and maintaining hardware-in-the-loop and test infrastructure. You’ll also contribute to verification and validation activities, test documentation, training materials, and provide testability feedback to our OpenSat design teams throughout development cycles.
What You’ll Bring
Strong knowledge of spacecraft functional testing and/or in-orbit operations
Solid systems engineering foundations applied to complex, integrated systems
Understanding of satellite subsystems and spacecraft integration processes
Capability to develop and support test automation frameworks
Programming or scripting capability (e.g. Python, Bash)
Confidence working in Unix command-line environments
Clear, structured documentation and communication skills
A detail-oriented, quality-driven approach
Calm, reliable decision-making under pressure
A proactive, solution-focused mindset
For this role you can be based in any of our locations.
To apply, you must have the legal right to work in your chosen location.
