About the People & Culture Lead role
As a People & Culture lead you will be working to head, manage and scale our People function as we continue to grow. Reporting directly to leadership, you will drive both strategic and operational HR initiatives, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, HR operations, and organizational development.
You will build scalable HR processes, policies, and systems while fostering a high-performance, people-first culture. As a trusted partner to managers and leadership, you will help shape the employee experience, support business growth, and ensure OMRL continues to attract, develop, and retain exceptional talent.
What will you do?
People Strategy:
- Develop and execute an effective people strategy aligned with OMRL's business objectives, growth trajectory, and across the employee lifecycle.
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, HR initiatives, and headcount forecasting.
- Build scalable HR policies, frameworks, and processes that grow with the organization.
Talent Acquisition:
- Lead high-quality, diverse, end-to-end recruitment.
- Establish and grow campus hiring and early-career talent pipelines.
- Manage hiring pipeline across all levels of the organization, including senior and executive hiring, across research, engineering, clinical, and business functions.
- Track hiring metrics and recruitment analytics to continuously improve outcomes.
People Operations:
- Identify, implement, and own process optimization across HR operations, policies, and documentation - to help manage the employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and internal governance standards.
- Manage and optimize the HRIS platform (Zoho People) as the system of record, attendance, and leave management for people data.
Learning & Development:
- Conduct training needs analyses to identify skill and capability gaps.
- Design learning programs and development initiatives that build technical, functional, and leadership capability.
- Support employees and managers in identifying career pathways and delivering effective performance coaching.
- Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and intellectual curiosity.
Performance Management:
- Manage the performance review cycle, from goal-setting to the end of review: ensuring consistency, fairness, and clarity.
- Build feedback systems that support ongoing, two-way performance conversations.
- Support succession planning for critical roles across the organization.
- Foster a high-performance culture grounded in accountability and growth.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Conduct compensation benchmarking to ensure OMRL remains competitive in the market.
- Develop performance-linked reward and recognition programs that motivate and retain top talent.
- Administer and evaluate employee benefits programs and wellness initiatives for enhancement.
- Lead annual salary review processes in partnership with leadership.
Employee Engagement & Culture:
- Design and lead employee engagement initiatives that strengthen connection, inclusion, and belonging to OMRL's mission.
- Organize culture- and team-building initiatives that strengthen cross-functional relationships.
- Run recognition programs that celebrate impact and effort.
- Own internal communications that keep employees informed, aligned, and engaged.
- Serve as a fair, thoughtful partner in resolving workplace conflicts.
HR Analytics & Reporting:
- Build and maintain HR dashboards, hiring metrics, and employee surveys that surface actionable workforce insights, such as analyzing attrition trends to recommend retention strategies.
- Champion data-driven decision-making across all HR functions.
- Deliver regular workforce insights and reporting to leadership.
Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure organization-wide compliance with HR policies and applicable labor laws and regulations.
- Lead HR audits and maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation.
- Safeguard employee confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion.
- Uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity in all HR practices.
- Manage HR-related risk and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
Who are we looking for?
- MBA or Master’s Degree in Human Resources / Human Resource Management / Business Administration / Organizational Development / Psychology, or equivalent business or human resources education, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- 5-8 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, preferably within startups and/or high-growth organizations.
- Proven experience building and scaling HR processes, systems, and people practices from the ground up.
- Strong background in talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, and core HR operations.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms, preferably Zoho People, and working knowledge of HR analytics and workforce reporting.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and confidently.
- Business-minded, analytical, and detail-oriented, with a structured approach to problem-solving and data-driven decision-making.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership, integrity, and accountability in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative, people-focused, and resilient, with a continuous learning mindset and the ability to thrive in ambiguity while driving positive organizational change.
