Skills and Competencies

  • 10+ years of experience in credit analysis focusing on financial institutions to provide expert judgment on complex banking, insurance, and/or private credit methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively evaluate new and existing methodology proposals and identifying potential issues with rigor and precision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to clearly articulate complex analytical concepts and review findings to senior management, rating groups, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Necessary for working effectively within the Methodology Review Committee and with diverse teams across Moody's to achieve consensus.
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities. This is crucial for managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines for methodology reviews and approvals.
  • Ability to leverage AI and data analysis tools to enhance research, identify trends, and improve the efficiency of the methodology review process.
  • Knowledge of Moody’s rating methodologies is desired.

Education

  • Demonstrable experience working in credit analysis
  • Undergraduate degree and/or Masters

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve global credit rating methodologies, with a primary focus on the Financial Institutions Group (FIG), to ensure analytical integrity and quality.
  • Act as a voting member of the Methodology Review Committee (MRC), reviewing and approving new and updated credit rating methodologies, assessments, and models globally.
  • Lead in-depth annual reviews of existing rating methodologies to ensure they remain robust, relevant, and effective.
  • Apply deep subject matter expertise to projects primarily related to the Financial Institutions Group (FIG), including banks, insurance, and private credit.
  • Serve as a senior analytical resource for targeted rating committee reviews and take a lead role in addressing compliance-related queries.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders, including the Rating Group, the Methodology and Model Development Group, and senior management.
  • Engage with external parties such as market participants and, at times, regulators on methodology-related topics.

Our Methodology Review Group (MRG) team is responsible for the independent review and approval of all credit rating methodologies used globally across Moody's. By ensuring the integrity, rigor, and consistency of our methodologies, the MRG plays a critical role in maintaining the quality and credibility of our ratings.
