Skills and Competencies
- 3 + years of professional programming experience with .net, C#, SQL and a proven track record of on-time delivery
- Proficiency in .NET framework, C#, and SQL development
- Experience working with ASP.NET Core and MVC architecture
- Familiarity with RESTful API design and integration
- Understanding of front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Experience with cloud services (Azure or AWS) preferred
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks desired
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in computer science
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain web applications using the .NET framework. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and deliver effective solutions. Ensure code quality through thorough testing and regular reviews. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to maintain optimal system performance. Participate in the full software development life cycle, from concept and design through to deployment and support.
- Manage tasks independently, while seeking guidance as needed for complex challenges. Document development processes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Architect and build scalable web applications leveraging the .NET framework, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, designers, and QA specialists to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Review, test, and refactor code to maintain high standards for functionality, readability, and maintainability.
- Identify and resolve bugs or performance bottlenecks, proactively troubleshooting issues in production and development environments.
- Engage in regular code reviews and peer feedback sessions to foster professional growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Implement and maintain automated unit and integration tests to ensure robust software quality and reliability.
- Work within agile methodologies, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives for continuous improvement.
- Deploy and support applications in cloud environments such as Azure or AWS, integrating with CI/CD pipelines for seamless releases.
- Document system architecture, workflows, and processes to support ongoing development and assist future team members.
- Participate in ongoing learning opportunities to stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in .NET development.
About the team
The Model Dev team is dedicated to both introducing innovative new catastrophe models and continuously refining and supporting those already in use. Our work encompasses the entire lifecycle of model development, from initial concept and design through rigorous implementation, testing, and maintenance. We collaborate closely to ensure that each model remains accurate, up-to-date, and highly responsive to the evolving needs of the insurance industry. By staying agile and integrating the latest advancements in technology, we guarantee that our models deliver reliable insights for risk assessment and management, ultimately strengthening the resilience of our clients against catastrophic events.
As a member of the Model Dev team, you will play a pivotal role in expanding the insurance business unit through the development of new catastrophe (CAT) modelling services. Our work focuses on designing, building, and maintaining sophisticated distributed software systems that are critical to modern risk assessment and management.
