Skills and Competencies
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in communications, public relations, and/or journalism, ideally with a background in financial services or fintech.
- Ability to manage 1-2 entry-level to mid-career communications professionals in a hybrid setting.
- An essential strong storytelling mindset and experience with the development and activation of integrated, multi-channel communications strategies, including social media.
- Exceptional written/verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to advise and influence business partners.
- Detail-oriented, adaptable, and calm under pressure with strong time management skills and a sense of self-motivation and accountability.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in AI (such as Co-Pilot) and Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint).
Education
- Undergraduate degree in communications or a related discipline is required.
Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic business partner, positioning Moody’s as a leading provider of insights on risk to the media and other key stakeholders, primarily in the US region.
- Develop strategic plans, key message documents, and Q&As to promote Moody’s thought leadership and marketing messages to the media.
- Lead on the external communications team, managing 1-2 team members and actively advising stakeholders on public relations best practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, producers, and media outlets.
- Proactively pitch story ideas, spokesperson commentary, and thought leadership research to relevant media contacts to secure interviews and other media activities.
- Respond to media inquiries promptly and effectively, ensuring accurate and positive coverage.
- Support and execute relevant US and global communications campaigns.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on resulting media coverage.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align communication efforts with marketing, branding, public relations, and investor relations activities.

We contribute by driving Moody’s thought leadership, enhancing its brand and reputation, and acting as strategic partners to the business. For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $125,800.00 - $182,350.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
