Title: Staff Software Engineer

Location: 7 World Trade Center, 250 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007 (Principal place of business – telecommuting permitted)

Duties: Interpret business requirements for a Business Mission, Epic with the assistance of Business Analysts. Provide feedback on requirements from a technical perspective and estimates for user stories and tasks. Lead design and implementation of complex, multi-system, multi-region enterprise solutions. Author technical design documents. Take ownership of stories and implement and test features based on requirements. Refactor design and implementation for stories owned, based on requirement changes. Define and maintain coding standards and guide team members to comply with set standards. Collaborate with quality assurance engineers to fix defects. Collaborate with build and release engineers to prepare packages and solve environment issues. Investigate and find root cause for software problems reported by clients. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring scalability and reliability of software systems. Maintain technical documents. Review code of less senior team members and provide guidance from technical perspective. Work with more senior team members to continuously improve our engineering practices. Mentor more junior engineers. Conduct training sessions and proactively share knowledge in or across teams. Telecommuting Permitted (100% telecommuting position. Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field plus at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience as a Software Engineer, Technical Consultant, or in a related position performing software development and designing technical solutions. Must have experience with the following: architecting, designing, developing, and implementing solutions to support enhancements and bug fixes; providing technical support, including troubleshooting, analyzing, and resolving defects in production, UAT, and stage environments; working with performance measuring tools such as JMeter and Jprofiler for applications; using build tools and version control systems, including GIT; applying knowledge of multithreading concepts, design patterns, and software development methodologies, including Agile, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment for applications development; using messaging frameworks and tools such as ActiveMQ or Kafka; working with Distributed NoSQL Databases such as ElasticSearch and DynamoDB; working with Core Java, J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, JMS, JDBC, SQL/PLSQL, Unix, Shell, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JIRA, Confluence, React, IntelliJ, SQL Developer, cloud-hosted relational databases, cloud service components, REST/SOAP API, and automated testing tools, including JUnit and Jacoco. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
