Skills and Competencies
- 6–10+ years of experience in data engineering, including significant leadership experience building and scaling high-performing teams.
- Passion for building trustworthy, secure, AI-enabled, and operationally excellent data systems.
- Skilled at partnering across technical and non-technical teams to drive meaningful product and business outcomes.
- Comfortable leading through ambiguity and setting technical strategy in rapidly evolving environments.
- Strong technical expertise in modern data engineering stacks, including Databricks, Python, Spark, and Kubernetes.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Responsibilities
The Corporate & Governments business unit at Moody’s leverages data-driven insights and advanced technologies to help businesses manage risk across KYC, Supply Chain, Trade Credit, and Sales & Marketing domains. We are seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead our Data & Analytics team in building scalable, AI-enabled data platforms that power intelligent risk solutions.
This role is ideal for a technical engineering leader who thrives in hands-on development, has a strong grasp of modern data infrastructure, and is passionate about integrating AI into data engineering and platform workflows.
- Build, manage, and grow a diverse, high-performing Data Engineering team.
- Guide data architecture and infrastructure decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and trustworthiness.
- Develop robust, secure, and fault-tolerant systems for data ingestion, transformation, and delivery using DevOps practices, including CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
- Partner closely with teams across Compliance, Product, Engineering, AI/ML, Data Science, and Analytics to understand data needs and deliver impactful solutions.
- Champion AI adoption, data quality, governance, and privacy best practices that uphold Moody’s highest standards.
About the team
Our Compliance & Third-Party Risk team is responsible for delivering data-driven solutions that help organizations manage risk across Know Your Customer (KYC), supply chain, and trade credit domains. Our Data Science team plays a central role in this mission by developing scalable machine learning systems, advanced applied AI capabilities, and building platforms that power Moody’s risk intelligence products. For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $168,200.00 - $243,650.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
