Skills and Competencies

  • Programming Proficiency: Solid grasp of at least one programming language—preferably JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python
  • Web Technologies: Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, REST APIs, and browser behavior
  • Version Control: Familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows like GitHub or GitLab
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): Awareness of stages like design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Debugging and Testing: Ability to identify and fix bugs, write unit tests, and use tools like Selenium or Jest
  • Data Structures and Algorithms: Basic knowledge to support problem-solving and efficient coding
  • Database Fundamentals: Exposure to SQL or NoSQL databases and understanding of CRUD operations
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use

Education

  • Anticipated Bachelor’s Degree computer science or STEM related field
  • Graduation date of December 2026 - June 2027
  • Ability to work during program dates: June 1st - August 7th 2026

Responsibilties

  • Develop and maintain software applications using modern programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following established coding standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and senior engineers, to plan and execute development tasks
  • Document technical specifications and development procedures to support knowledge sharing and future maintenance

Nice To Haves

  • Participate in code reviews, offering and receiving constructive feedback to improve code quality
  • Assist in debugging and testing software to ensure reliability and performance across different environments
  • Support deployment and monitoring of applications, including basic DevOps tasks and cloud integration where applicable
  • Contribute to UI/UX design efforts, including wireframes and user flows, especially for web-based applications
  • Engage in agile methodologies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to understand team workflows

About the Team
Part of Moody’s Analytics, our team uses machine learning and computer vision to pioneer a new form of property information, built specifically for the organizations that finance, protect, and invest in our homes and businesses. Our 50+ (and rapidly growing!) clients across insurance and real estate are leading a digital transformation to secure properties and livelihoods in the face of complex trends in housing and climate.

We leverage all available tools and technologies to build our best-in-class tech-stack, which affords us flexibility of fast-deployments, along with the stability to support aggressive SLAs for critical-path client APIs and applications. We build our models using Pytorch and Tensorflow, and leverage Python, JavaScript/Typescript, Spark and Postgres across our GCP-deployed cloud infrastructure.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring hourly range for this position is $35, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location.
