Skills and Competencies

Must-Haves:

  • Programming experience in Python
  • Basic knowledge of bash
  • Must be self-motivated; a self-starter and problem-solver
  • Must be a clear communicator

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience working in remote Linux environments
  • Experience writing regression/integration tests
  • Experience with Postman and using APIs
  • Experience with Git or other version control system
  • Programming experience in C++
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning libraries such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch
  • Knowledge in open source/commercial graph databases
  • A data storyteller or narrative finder
  • Experience using CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure Pipelines
  • Knowledge of creating docker containers and Kubernetes clusters
  • Knowledge using Databricks notebooks and pipelines
  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience
    using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to
    implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of
    AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use

Education

  • Pursuing a degree in one of the following majors: Statistics or related subjects, Mathematics, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics or Data Science, Finance, Financial Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Ideally one year ahead of graduation
  • Internship Start Date: March 2026

Responsibilities

The intern will be exposed to the different but necessary stages of data science that are needed to process real-time news for our customers

  • News ingestion, normalization, and cleaning
  • Exploring news looking for trends and insights
  • Named Entity Recognition and Linking in news stories
  • News Classification including researching and developing new categories
  • Automated summarization and clustering
  • Deriving insights by analyzing news in bulk
  • Working in an agile team
  • Maintaining and updating existing software and documenting changes
  • Automated deployments and testing
  • Docker and Kubernetes containerization and management
  • Creation of data notebooks and pipelines in Databricks
