General Summary
- Review preliminary assembly concepts and provide input to design engineering to improve manufacturability.
- Review engineering drawings and Bill of Materials to ensure they are accurate and complete for manufacturing.
- Build first-time prototypes, resolve problems with design engineering, create manufacturing work instructions, and train assembly personnel.
- Develop, implement, and improve processes, time standards, capacity plans, equipment, tools, and production line layouts.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related field and 2+ years of Manufacturing Engineering or related work experience.
Master's degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related field and 1+ year of Manufacturing Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of Manufacturing Engineering or related work experience.
- Applies Manufacturing Engineering knowledge and experience to develop, implement, and improve processes, methods, time standards, capacity plans, operation sequences, equipment, tools, materials, data analyses, spec setup, and production line layouts in the manufacturing of parts and assemblies.
- Provides Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input to product design teams to meet product cost, quality, and reliability requirements.
- Conducts prototyping and experiments to evaluate manufacturability and feasibility of new product designs or technology.
- Applies knowledge of time standards and capacity modeling to create models to forecast production output and resource requirements.
- Specifies, evaluates, recommends, and implements complex equipment, tools, and fixtures.
- Designs and optimizes factory or production line layouts, process flows, and work station layouts.
- Participates in the selection and/or bring-up of suppliers and/or contract manufacturers to produce parts and/or assemblies.
- Writes and maintains detailed technical documentation for manufacturing activities and projects.
- Working under supervision.
- Decision-making may affect work beyond immediate work group.
- Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information. May require basic negotiation, influence, tact, etc.
- Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions.
- Tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
