Job Title: Product Safety & Compliance Engineer (Robotics)
Location: Pune
Department: PnT
Role Overview
We are looking for a Product Safety & Compliance Engineer to ensure our robotic systems meet global regulatory, safety, and certification requirements across Europe and new markets including the US, Japan, and Australia.
This role sits at the intersection of hardware, software, and field deployment, and is critical to enabling safe, compliant, and scalable product rollouts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Safety & Risk Management
Perform risk assessments and performance level analysis for robotic systems
Define and validate safety functions (E-stop, interlocks, safe motion, redundancy)
Ensure compliance with machinery and functional safety standards such as:
ISO 12100
ISO 13849
IEC 61508
2. Regulatory Compliance & Certifications
Own CE marking and support global certifications (UL, FCC, etc.)
Prepare and maintain Technical Construction Files (TCF) and Declarations of Conformity
Work with notified bodies, test labs, and certification agencies
Track and interpret regulatory requirements across EU, US, Japan, and Australia
3. System-Level Compliance Integration
Translate regulatory and safety requirements into system and subsystem requirements
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ensure compliance-by-design
Review designs for compliance gaps and drive closure
4. Documentation & Audit Readiness
Maintain structured, audit-ready documentation aligned with QMS
Support internal and external audits
Contribute to process improvements for compliance and safety engineering
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field
3–8 years of experience in product safety, compliance, or system engineering (robotics, industrial automation, or similar domains)
Strong understanding of machinery safety and risk assessment methodologies
Hands-on experience with CE marking and EU directives
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with standards such as:
IEC 60204-1
IEC 61000
Exposure to global certifications (UL, FCC, TELEC, etc.)
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and embedded systems
Experience in warehouse automation, AMRs, or AGVs
Key Skills
Strong systems thinking and cross-functional collaboration
Ability to balance engineering practicality with regulatory rigor
Detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline
Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments
