At Automata, we're on a mission to transform how scientists work by making automation accessible to every lab in the world. We believe that by giving labs the power to automate, we can unlock discoveries that will shape the future of life sciences—from diagnostics and drug discovery to synthetic biology.
But we’re more than just a company disrupting the industry—we're a team of innovators, problem-solvers, and creators passionate about empowering scientists. Our LINQ platform combines hardware and software to streamline workflows, making lab automation fast, flexible, and affordable. This means our customers can focus on groundbreaking research, while we take care of the rest.
Why Work at Automata?
- Impact: Your work will directly contribute to advancements in science and medicine, supporting labs around the globe as they push boundaries in research and innovation.
- Innovation: You’ll be part of a team solving complex problems (seriously, no one else has figured out how to do this yet), using cutting-edge technology (we have robots).
- Growth: We invest in our people. Whether through hands-on experience, professional development, or collaborative projects, you’ll grow both professionally and personally.
- Community: Join a diverse, passionate team that values collaboration (golf on a Thursday, Soccer once a month, movie nights whenever we fancy it).
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager with a strong technical foundation—particularly in algorithms and Python—and extensive experience in product management, to join our team.
This role is ideal for someone who excels at driving the operational delivery of high-impact features, ensuring smooth product development and launch processes through hands-on execution and cross-functional collaboration.
You will work closely with engineering, design, and QA teams to uphold quality standards, optimise processes, and successfully bring products to market. As we build a physical product, preference will be given to candidates who can work in our London office at least twice per week to enhance team collaboration and ability to get up close and personal with the LINQ Bench.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle—from concept to launch—ensuring key milestones and requirements are met. Focus on operational excellence, driving efficiency and quality in product delivery
- Cross-functional leadership: Act as the primary point of coordination between engineering, design, and QA teams, removing roadblocks and ensuring clear, consistent communication. Align teams toward common goals and maintain momentum across projects.
- Technical Collaboration: Leverage your knowledge of algorithms and Python to engage meaningfully in technical discussions, support feasibility assessments, and assist in troubleshooting alongside engineering teams.
- Process Optimisation & Quality Assurance: Collaborate with QA to maintain product quality and continuously improve development workflows for enhanced efficiency and reliability.
- Agile Product Management: Lead Agile processes, including sprint planning, backlog management, and daily stand-ups, to ensure timely, high-quality product releases through well-structured development cycles.
What we're looking for:
- Experience: Significant proven experience in product management, with a strong emphasis on operational delivery, end-to-end product lifecycle management, and cross-functional team leadership.
- Technical Expertise: Strong foundation in algorithms and Python, enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams and a deep understanding of technical challenges and opportunities.
- Operational Focus: Proven experience managing day-to-day product operations, prioritising tasks, and optimising workflows to ensure seamless product delivery.
- Communication & Leadership: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to foster effective collaboration across teams and maintain alignment toward shared objectives.
- Adaptability: A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to manage shifting priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Nice to haves:
- Experience with constraint programming or Google’s OR-Tools.
- Familiarity with Agile tools and collaboration platforms (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Prior experience working in high-growth or startup environments.
- Availability to work onsite in the London office at least twice a week.
How we work:
- Competitive Compensation: Flexible hours with competitive salary and bonus.
- Hybrid Work Model: Candidates located in the London area are preferred, with the option to work remotely part-time.
- Collaborative Culture: Join a talented team committed to technical excellence and operational efficiency, working on impactful and innovative products.
If you are a technically proficient product manager with a strong focus on execution and the ability to work in our London office part-time, we’d love to hear from you.
