AI Project Controls Consultant - Remote within Australia

Join nPlan, and change the world of construction with AI

We’re nPlan, a Series B startup backed by leading investors, including Google Ventures (now known as GV) and sector leaders, including Suffolk and Chevron. Our technology helps the world’s biggest construction projects make faster, more confident, data-driven decisions.

By combining one of the world’s largest datasets of project plans (over 750,000) with advanced machine learning, we forecast project outcomes and reduce risk — reshaping how major construction programs are planned and delivered.

We offer remote working, flexible hours, early stage equity, and the opportunity to make a real difference with your work. If this sounds like you, then please read on...

The Role

We are looking for a first-of-a-kind AI Project Controls Consultant to join our Commercial team in Australia.

Using your expertise in the project delivery of large-scale construction projects, you’ll help our clients fully understand the impact nPlan has, and maximise the value they get from the nPlan product.
With a number of existing key clients in the APAC region, including Chevron, Singapore’s Land Transit Authority and Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway, your main responsibility will be to make sure that we efficiently delight these customers and others in the region.

You’ll have autonomy, ownership, and trust from day one, and be working with talented people who care deeply about our mission.

This role is remote-first, though you may be required to travel within the APAC region (up to 3-5 times per year) and internationally for client or team meetings (1-2 times per year).

What We’re Looking For

We’re excited to hear from people who bring curiosity, collaboration, and initiative. AS Our AI Project Controls Consultant, you will use your industry expertise to guide our clients, and be the bridge between industry and tech.

So, for this role we are looking for:

  • Background of min. 2 years in project management, project controls or construction management (or similar in Construction Technology).
  • Confident communicator - especially verbally. You are proactive and unafraid to challenge and guide difficult conversations
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and high motivation to delight customers.
  • Very strong organisational skills.
  • Please mention the word ‘crane’ in your application form

We care more about potential and drive than perfection. If you’re excited by what we’re building, we want to hear from you.

We also know that updating an old CV can be time-consuming, so feel free to just post your LinkedIn profile in the application.

Key Responsibilities

This role exists to ensure we deliver the value to our customers that drives them to renew and expand their use of nPlan.

  • Value - deeply understand the needs of each customer and ensure we outperform expectations.
  • Client engagement and support - build strategy and engagement plans to delight our strategic customers; ensure a seamless journey from customer onboarding to ongoing support; empower customers to self-serve using nPlan, and build and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the client organisation.
  • Commercial - determine areas to expand and improve our offering to the customer, coordinate within account teams for optimum delivery.
  • This role is less about creating the project schedule and more about advising on it using nPlan's data-driven insights. So you'll be helping our clients to understand data, for them to turn into action

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Competitive salary up to AUD$120k + variable bonus AUD$40k, along with generous equity — when nPlan succeeds, so do you.
  • Flexible hours, remote-first.
  • Uncapped holiday, private medical insurance, personal learning and development budget, enhanced family and sick leave, and more.
  • Room to grow — we’re approaching 50 people and scaling fast.
  • Guided by our values: Learn from Everything. Be Radically Truthful. Aim High, Run Fast.

Our Culture

We’re a curious, diverse, and mission-driven team united by a belief that better data can change how the world builds.
We value openness, honesty, and diversity of thought — and believe the best ideas win, no matter where they come from.

Expect openness, collaboration, and balance — plus plenty of social opportunities!

Application Process

  1. Once you’ve applied, you will hear from us within a week.
  2. Interview stages typically include:
    • A 30 minute intro chat
    • A role-specific interview or assignment
    • An interview focusing on our culture and values
    • A final stage to test collaboration with our team (on-site or remote)
  3. We aim to complete the process within 3–4 weeks but can move faster if necessary.

We want every candidate to have a positive experience — and we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.
